The conflict between Russia and Ukraine dates back to 2014 with the Crimean War (Crimea is now annexed to Russia).

Since 2014 this conflict has continued to affect the two nations in the Donbass and Lugansk regions, on the border between the two states.

After the recognition of these two regions as independent republics by Vladimir Putin on February 21st, the conflict has become more and more intense with the invasion of the Ukrainian state starting from the early hours of 24th February.

HOW IS THE SITUATION EVOLVING?

The situation is getting worse and worse, as a matter of fact we’re trying to understand what NATO’s future intentions are, whether they want to take part in the conflict or not and, most of all, if it is going to concern Italy too.

According to the latest pieces of news it looks like NATO is not going to enter the conflict but the situation could suddenly change: everything will depend on Vladimir Putin and his trusted minister Sergei Lavro’s actions.

HOW DID THIS CONFLICT COME ABOUT?

Here depicted some Russian tanks

The causes that led us to this conflict are many and perhaps the most important one is the national affiliation factor: since 2014, the regions of Donbass and Lugansk, in particular have been claiming their autonomy and greater refinement in Russia than in Ukraine (to which they belong). These forces are called “separatists” and are financed by the Russian government itself. The worsening of the international economic situation has led Russia to seek improvements for its economy, which have been identified in the numerous gas fields in the Donbass and Lugansk regions. The situation exploded with the speech of Vladimir Putin on February 21st which recalled the idea of the Great Mother Russia and the mistake in having uprooted the Ukrainian territory from Russia.

On February 24th Putin announced the Russian military intervention to “liberate” Ukraine from the Nazi’s invasors.

HOW WILL THIS CONFLICT INFLUENCE US TEENAGERS?

Nowadays, teenagers are already in a difficult psychological situation because of the two years’ lockdown due to the Covid 19 pandemic and certainly, the possibility of a continental if not worldwide war can’t help the growth of the young people that will eventually lead this nation.

One thing is for sure, every single individual gives their biggest effort in order to avoid this conflict and keep a permanent state of peace.

Thoughts:

“I’m very pessimistic, I’m worried about the people I love”

“I’m pessimistic, I’m most worried about what will happen. The future state of worldwide economics particularly worries me”.
“I am afraid that a new World War may break out”

“I cannot think about war in 2022! I hope for peace”
